Are you a word wiz?

The word "sandwich" has been around since the 1700s. How do you think the sandwich got its name?

John Montagu, 4th Earl of Sandwich, lived in 18th-century England and was a powerful political figure. He was also fond of playing cards. A story claims that the Earl once spent an entire night at the card table. Instead of leaving the game to have dinner, he ordered that slices of meat be brought to him between pieces of bread so he could continue playing while he ate. This convenient type of food soon became popular throughout England, and was called a "sandwich" because of the story about the Earl.
